Becoming Minimalist offers readers’ personal journeys to minimalism, some of which are included in their book, Simplify. Today: Heather’s story. Growing up in a home with lots of “stuff”, Heather struck out on her own, bought a large house at age 25, and began filling it up. After a military deployment, Heather returned to boxes of books, clothing, papers and household items that she realized she didn’t need. Life in Afghanistan had shown her what was essential, and she began the process of selling or donating many of her things. Heather’s sense of freedom and happiness are the best reward.
