In the works is a documentary that explores the passionate, elaborate, mysterious, and centuries-old relationship between women and their shoes. The film is based on interviews with designers and manufacturers—including Jimmy Choo, Manolo Blahnik, Christian Laboutin, Steve Madden, and Pierre Hardy—as well as noted shoe purchasers, including Catherine Deneuve, Mariah Carey, Audrey Tatou, and Imelda Marcos. Elle and Vogue editors, average women, collectors, historians, curators, surgeons, psychologists, filmmakers, and news anchors play other speaking roles. French director Hamid Saadia takes God Save my Shoes from Milan to Paris, London to New York, and Los Angeles to Tokyo. The film is being produced by independent producer Thierry Daher, CEO of CAID Productions, a New York–based pop culture film production company, who produced and distributed Just for Kicks, the first documentary about the history of sneakers.
